Peat Polder
Peat is 'thick water' and consists of plant remains. Peat soil always sinks. Under houses it is piled, but streets continuously sink along with the peat. The same goes for the Noorderhemweg, apart from the Zeeland Bridge, the longest bridge on piles in our country.
